Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Confirms Venue for Pakistan India Match

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalised its resolution to implement a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 meaning India will officially play all its matches at a neutral venue with Dubai set to be confirmed as the destination. This decision was mandated by the strained relations between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

After much speculation, reports now confirm that India’s group-stage matches of the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a neutral venue chosen for its logistical advantages and proven track record of hosting high-profile cricket events.

Earlier,  particularly since it successfully hosted India’s Asia Cup 2023 matches under a similar hybrid model. However, recent reports from local news sources reveal that the BCCI and PCB have reached a mutual agreement favouring Dubai. All stakeholders, including ICC officials and broadcasters, have backed Dubai for its accessibility and infrastructure. The venue is set to host at least three group-stage games, with the possibility of additional matches if India advances to the semi-finals or final.

Dubai: A Proven Host for Global Cricket

Dubai International Cricket Stadium has long been a favoured venue for marquee cricket events, hosting multiple ICC tournaments. Its state-of-the-art facilities, central location, and history of handling high-pressure games make it the ideal stage for a tournament of this magnitude.

ICC’s Hybrid Model: A Game-Changer

The ICC’s hybrid model resolution, adopted at a recent board meeting, mandates that India and Pakistan will not travel to each other’s countries for ICC events through 2027. Instead, their matches will take place at neutral venues. This policy extends beyond the Champions Trophy 2025 to include women’s ICC events, such as the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, which Pakistan is set to host. It ensures consistent scheduling and addresses logistical challenges stemming from political tensions.
